Today i started to write my first MDX-code and read about tuples. Some important things:
– Each attribute-hierarchy within a dimension of the cube forms an axis. Along each axis the associated attribute-hierarchy + (All) Member occupies a position.
– Points within the cube can be referenced using a tuple. Tuples in cube spaces use member references for coordinate values such as: (a1, a2, … an) where a is the member reference.
– Points within cube spaces are occupied by cells which are objects and have their own properties. The default properties when accessing a cell is VALUE & FORMATTED_VALUE.
– When accessing parital tuples, that is only having some axis-coordinates then SSAS will fill in the blanks. When omitting a member reference SSAS uses three rules:
1. Use the default Member.
2. Use the (All) Member.
3. Use the first Member.
